A Tale of Two Rapunzels
The Rapunzel tale dates back to 1812 with the Brothers Grimm writing the story of the long hair maiden who resides in a tower for much of her life until a prince stumbles upon the tower and spends many evenings with her until her stepmother, the enchantress Gothel, cuts her long locks and send her into exile in a desert shack while sending the prince into a bed of thorns, blinding him after baiting him by using Rapunzel's severed hair. Fortunately, Rapunzel and the prince reunite and they and their twins return to his kingdom to live happily ever after. While there are live-action and stage depictions of Rapunzel's story, there was no animated Rapunzel film before the 21st century. The two examples I can give were a fifteen-minute stop motion film from the 1950s and the animated anthology series "Happily Ever After Fairy Tales for Every Child" (I watched the episode back around 2005 as the series has reruns on HBO family) in episode eight of season 1, airing in 1995 which had a
